What to expect during lead times
Lead times can feel like the longest part of ordering custom steel doors and windows — especially when you’re excited to see the final result. At Steelos, we want you to know exactly what happens during this period so you’re never left guessing. Here’s a clear breakdown of what to expect from the moment you place your order to the moment it arrives in Australia.
The First 6–7 Weeks: Manufacturing Your Order
Once your deposit is paid, your order immediately enters production. This is the most important part of the entire process, and it takes 6–7 weeks because every frame is made from scratch — cut, welded, cleaned, painted, and glazed specifically for your project.
Regular Factory Updates
During these 6–7 weeks, you’ll receive progress photos directly from the factory.
You’ll see:
Your steel frames being cut and welded
Powder coat being applied
Glazing being installed
Hardware prep being completed
These updates are something most companies don’t offer. We show you everything so you always know exactly where your order is up to.
Multiple Quality Checks
Throughout manufacturing, your order is personally quality-checked by our team several times.
We inspect:
Weld quality
Frame accuracy and straightness
Powder-coat finish
Hinge alignment
Glass installation
Nothing gets shipped unless it passes every check.
The Last 2–3 Weeks: Shipping & Customs
Once manufacturing is complete, your order enters the logistics phase. This typically takes 2–3 weeks, depending on whether you choose sea freight or air freight.
This stage includes:
Careful packing and protection
Container loading
Vessel travel time
Australian customs clearance
Local delivery scheduling
We work closely with our freight partners to make sure this process runs smoothly with minimal delays.
From start to finish, most orders take 8–10 weeks to arrive from the moment your deposit is paid.
This timeline includes:
6–7 weeks of hands-on fabrication
2–3 weeks of shipping and customs
Multiple updates, quality checks, and full transparency along the way
